Theresa M. Muir, 89

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. &dmash; Theresa Marie Muir, 89, formerly of Sweetwood Retirement Community, died peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, surrounded by loved ones at Williamstown Commons, where she resided for six years. Born in Newark, N.J., on May 13, 1926, daughter of Mary Murphy Gee, she grew up in Providence, R.I., where she graduated from Hope High School. She and her husband, Robert E. Muir, also of Providence, relocated to Williamantic, Conn., where they lived for fifty-six years and raised their family. She moved to Williamstown in 2006. Mrs. Muir held several jobs in Willimantic and retired in 1988 from Brand-Rex Co., where she worked as an accounting clerk. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Devoted to her family, she was happiest when she was with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Some of her fondest memories were of spending time with her family, especially on Cape Cod and in Sun City Center, Fla. She also loved card games and was a volunteer and player on Bingo nights at the Elks Club in Willimantic. She will be fondly remembered by everyone whose life she touched. Her husband, the love of her life and her very best friend, whom she married in 1947, died in 2009. She leaves her son, Robert E. Muir Jr. and his wife, JoAnn, of Williamstown; her daughter, Susan E. Baker and and her husband, William C., of Willimantic; her three grandchildren, Scott J. E. Baker of Lebanon, Conn., Bryan E. Muir of Boulder, Colo., and Christopher E. Muir of Brooklyn, N.Y. Her son William S. Muir also died in January 2009, and her sister, Jeannette Gee, in 2001. FUNERAL NOTICE — A private burial service for Mrs. Muir will take place in Willimantic, Conn., at the family's convenience. The family would like to thank the staff at Williamstown Commons for their tireless professionalism and compassion and the staff at HospiceCare in the Berkshires for their tremendous support and guidance. They would also like to express their deep gratitude to Melissa Bryce and her extraordinary staff at At Home TLC for providing loving care and companionship for Mrs. Muir for the past eight years. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
