Norman S. D'Amico, 82

CLARKSBURG, Mass. - Norman Sebastiano D'Amico, 82, of Middle Road died on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at his home. Born in North Adams on Aug. 16, 1933, a son of Benjamin and Theresa Musk D'Amico, he attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School and from North Adams State College, from which he obtained three master's degrees. A decorated Army veteran, he served with a tank division. Mr. D'Amico was employed with the North Adams Police Department and the North Adams Fire Department. An educator, he first taught at Hoosac Valley High School, in North Adams, Peru and Bennington, Vt., and, for a short time, in Poland. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a member of the Clarksburg VFW. He leaves his wife, the former Marcella Briggs, whom he married on July 19, 2015; his niece and nephews, Howard D'Amico Jr., Peter D'Amico, Paul D'Amico and Cynthia Shepard. He was predeceased by a brother, Howard D'Amico. FUNERAL NOTICE - A liturgy of Christian burial for Mr. D'Amico will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 at the church. Memorial donations are suggested for Berkshire Humane Society or Second Chance Animal Center through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
