Dorothy DePaoli, 84
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Dorothy DePaoli, 84, of Walker Street died Saturday Oct. 10, 2015, at the North Adams campus of Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 21, 1931, daughter of Raffaele "Ralph" and Pasienza "Alice" Pedercini D'Arcangelo, she attended local schools and graduated in 1949 from Drury High School, where she played on the basketball team.
Mrs. DePaoli was employed by the state of Massachusetts at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Skating Rink and the Visitors Center at Western Gateway Heritage Park, and retiring from the Mount Greylock Visitors Center. She also had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co., as a cafeteria worker for the North Adams public schools, Whitcomb Summit and the former Mountain View Restaurant.
He enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She loved to read and watch cooking shows and sports. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and of St. John Bosco Church in Stamford, Vt. A member of the Clarksburg Seniors, she also enjoyed playing bingo and going to the Spitzer Center for lunch.
Her husband, Louis DePaoli, whom she married on Sept. 8, 1951, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, died on Jan. 10, 1991.
She leaves two sons, Brian DePaoli and his wife, Patty, of Norwalk, Conn., and Gary DePaoli and his wife, Lynn, of Stamford; four grandchildren, Michael DePaoli and Ashley DePaoli, both of Stamford, and Steven DePaoli and Laura Marsden-Kish and her husband, Kyle, all of Norwalk; a great-grandson, Derek; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who loved her very much, and many neighbors who enjoyed visiting with her.
She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent "Nini" D'Arcangelo, on Sept. 6, 1999, and her sister, Mary Domenichini, on June 16, 2014.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. DePaoli will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will Thursday morning from 9 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Food Project in care of the funeral home.
