Mary Rosasco, 99

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mary Rosasco, 99, of Church Street died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, surrounded by her family.
Born in North Adams on Aug. 25, 1916, daughter of Lino and Maria Leonesio Fachini, she graduated from Drury High School in 1936 and completed a degree at Bliss Business College.
Mrs. Rosasco was the director of sales at the former Rosasco Travel Agency and then at Berkshire Travel. She earlier had worked at the former Fishlein's Market, Less Wholesale, and the Richmond Hotel.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, a member of its Rosary Society and served on the Parish Council. She was the longtime treasurer of the former North Adams Sons of Italy and held all offices in the North Adams Garden Club. She helped institute the annual Carol Hess Memorial Award in the city and later received the award in 1979.
Long active in politics, she worked tirelessly to serve the Republican Party on the local and state level. She was a charter member of the Berkshire County Republican Association and served as its recording secretary for many years. She was honored as the Republican of the Year in 1978.
Mrs. Rosasco also served with the North Adams Regional Hospital Auxiliary, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, and on the board of Berkshire Community College. She also worked on the Northern Berkshire Fall Foliage Festival Committee and was a member of the Northern Berkshire Business and Professional Women's Club. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Clarksburg Senior Center. She also performed with the Aladdins music group.
She enjoyed many trips to Italy with friends and family over the years and attended the concerts and plays at Tanglewood and the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
Her husband, Judge Ernest H. Rosasco, whom she married on Nov. 21, 1953, died on July 14, 1985.
She leaves nieces and nephews including Robert J. Fachini and Debra Mirallegro McDaniels of North Adams, Susan Fachini Misani of Milan, Italy, John Mirallegro and his wife, Debbie, of Palermo, N.J., Francis Rosasco and his wife, Pamela, of Williamstown, and Katherine Rosasco of New York City, and many grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Her brother, Joseph August Fachini, and her sister, Esther Mirallegro, predeceased her.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Rosaco will be Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 10:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, Oct. 19, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ernest and Mary Rosasco Scholarship in care of the funeral home.
