Catherine Strype, 91

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Catherine Strype, 91, formerly of Williamstown, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 29, 1924, a daughter of William and Catherine McQuenney Timmins, she graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Brooklyn in 1943.
Mrs. Strype was employed at her father's company, Timmins Cooperage, in New York City.
She was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a communicant of the Parish of Sts. Patrick and Raphael. While a resident of New York, she was a communicant of and member of the Ladies Society at St. Charles' Church on Staten Island. She also was a member of the Staten Island Historical Society.
Her husband, William "Reggie" Strype, whom she married June 9, 1951, died Sept. 23, 2012.
She leaves her daughter, Maureen Strype and her husband, Sam Crane, of Williamstown; a sister, Marilyn Hoferichter of Lake Purdy, N.Y., and a granddaughter, Margaret "Maggie" Crane of Williamstown.
Her daughter Kathleen Strype Cortes died in 1981 and her grandson, Aidan Crane, in 2006. She also was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Buhl.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Strype will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the United Cerebral Palsy Fun Club through the funeral home.
