Margaret L. Palmer, 80

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Margaret L. "Bunny" Palmer, 80, of Adams Road died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Born in 1935, daughter of Francis G. Rondot and stepdaughter of Hazel Pray Rondot, she graduated from the former Williamstown High School in 1954.

Mrs. Palmer was employed for many years at Pownal (Vt.) Elementary School and then at Williams College.  

She leaves her three loving children, a son, Jeffrey Garrison and his wife, Lisa, of North Adams, and two daughters, Laurie Pustay and her husband, John, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cynthia Haley and her husband, Edward, of Pownal; three sisters, Barbara Fantone, Rose Almond and Joan Greer; and six grandchildren, Ryan Coburn, Devin Garrison, Jacqueline Pustay, John Pustay III, Evan Haley and Logan Haley.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The family of Mrs. Palmer will gather to meet family and friends on Sunday, March 6, from 3 to 5 at the Williams College Faculty House on Park Street.

Arrangements under the direction of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals.

Bunny I treasure the memories of our golf days at Stamford and I can still hear you greeting me in the parking lot; "Captain oh Captain". So much fun! Thank you for the memories. I know my mom, Mary Green Parisien, enjoyed your fun sense of humor too! And I know you have joined those crazy Williams High graduates and are partying on! Golf on my friend!

I treasured and loved Bunny as a good friend. We became golfing buddies when Joyce and I first came to Williamstown__had many laughs on the course and hot dogs and beers at Stamford.. We played in women" league there and one at Waubeeka. She introduced me to many of the many people she knew and we shared numerous adventures driving around the area. She watered our outdoor gardens in the summer and we loved to talk gardening--sharing stories and plants. We three loved going to Mario's once in a while for dinner. Two winters she came to Florida-once for a visit to my home and the next year for 2 months in her own rental home.Lots of giggles there, too.Everywhere she went people would seek her out and really enjoyed seeing her. They recognized her sense of caring, acceptance of people, her creative way of communicating and her sense of humor, as did I. We went to outdoor concerts,ate many meals together,shared family stories and challenges,packaged daffodil bouquets,exchanged books,took long walks while sharing our fears and love of life. She loved her family very much and always talked proudly about each member. There is now a hole in my heart that no one will fill quite the same way.

Bunny was a phenomenal woman and my good friend. She so generously shared with others and was willing to take risk to embrace life. She mingled with people from diverse and differing backgrounds and looked past superficial differences to see what we all shared in common as fellow humans. She introduced me to Mario's which became my favorite restaurant in the Berkshires. She let me tag along to Logan and Evan's wonderful school performances. The only golf tournament that I have entered was playing with her, Cyndi and Maggie. We won all of the women's prizes because we were the only women in the tournament of men. We did so many fun things like attending concerts at the lake in North Adams even once hearing her son Jeff's fantastic music performance, or enjoying fireside meals in winter at the Orchards, or going to the garlic festival in Bennington with Dee. She knew the history of the house I purchased on Stratton Road and the history of the area having been born here. But she also ventured beyond the area and could share wonderful stories of her life in California, in Savannah and in Colorado. She was a wise, generous woman. She was my friend and I will smile whenever, I think of her which will be often. She lived her life wit gusto. She loved and was loved. Margaret BUNNY Palmer Mattered! May she rest in peace!
