Francis “Butsey” Crawford, 91

LEE, Mass. — Francis “Butsey” Crawford, 91, of Woodland Road died Monday morning, April 18, at the Laurel Lake Center in Lee.

He was born on January 9, 1925, in Pittsfield, the son of Thomas and Mary Sour Crawford. He attended Lee Schools.

Butsey served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in construction as a Yuke truck driver and later at Lee Lime as a Kiln Operator.

He loved hunting, fishing, sports, umpiring and the New York Yankees. Every year helped the Lee Pee Wee Football with their fund raising.

On March 7, 1945, he married the former Audrey Noll. She died on June 29, 2014.

Butsey is survived by one son, Robert Crawford and his wife Joanne of Lee; one daughter, Joan Weeden and her husband Dan of Lee; one grandson, Peter Ostrander; one great-grandson, Peter Ostrander; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stanley and Betty Noll of Enfield, Conn.; another sister-in-law, Ruth Crawford of Lee; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his three brothers, William, James and Tommy; a sister, Beatrice Shepardson; and a grandson Richard Ostrander.

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Francis “Butsey” Crawford will be on Friday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in his memory to the American Heart Association in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
