Maighan C. McKie, 35

LEE, Mass. — Maighan C. McKie, 35, of Belchertown, Mass., died Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born in Springfield on October 4, 1980, the daughter of Jeffrey and Jean McKie. She made her home in Lee for a number of years and was a 1998 graduate of Lee High School.

Maighan had worked as a Child Care Worker at the Hillcrest Educational Centers in Lenox, Mass. She also worked at Springfield Municipal Hospital as a Direct Care Specialist.

In her spare time Maighan enjoyed music, trips to the zoo, spending time with her family and friends, and most importantly, her daughter Jada, who was the light of her life.

Besides her parents, Maighan is survived by her daughter, Jada Pizarro of Great Barrington; her brother Brian McKie and his wife Brandy, also of Great Barrington; her uncles David Gamache, Robert McKie and his wife Cheryl, Mark McKie and his wife June; her aunt, Melissa Mailman and her husband, William; and her many loving cousins.

Funeral notice: As per the request of the family, services will be private. However, at a later date, a memorial celebration will be held at the discretion of the family. Kelly Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
