Jean ‘Jay’ Conforti

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Jean Sophia “Jay” Conforti died peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, June 2.  

She was the youngest child of Anthony Conforti and Angelina Lopilato of Revere, Mass. A graduate of Malden High School, Jay was a multisport athlete who maintained her love of competition throughout her life, actively participating in bowling, bocce, softball, and many other games of chance and skill.  

A longtime employee of the John Hancock Life Insurance Company, she retired as a division manager.

Jay spent many happy years in West Palm Beach, Fla., enjoying the beach the sunshine and endless card games.  Jay travelled extensively to Europe and all over the U.S. She spent happy hours with her large and loving family and many friends. She loved nothing more than spending time with her many nieces and nephews and their families, never missing birthday parties, sporting events, dance recitals, and any other excuse for a card game and a laugh.  

Jay was an avid member of ITAM Lodge #564, St. Ann’s Sodality, and a former member of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her sister, Rita Kane of Pittsfield; a brother, Louis Lopilato of New Mexico; sisters-in-law Norma Conforti of Brookline, Mass., and Lucille Conforti of Malden, Mass.; nieces and nephews Joseph Conforti Jr., of Easton, Mass., Lisa McCarthy of Stoughton, Mass., Harry Conforti of Andover, Mass., Donna Repucci of Saugus, Mass., Nancy Boynton of Pawtucket, R.I., John Kane of Brookeville, Md., Louis Lopilato Jr. of Everett, Mass., Angela Burke of Westfield, Mass., Patricia Redmond of Wakefield, Mass., Christine Conforti of Brighton, Mass., Gerald Lopilato of White Plains, N.Y., and Orlando Conforti Jr. of Peabody, Mass.; 23 great-nieces and nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and -nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers Joseph and Orlando Conforti; her brother-in-law Carroll Kane; and her great nephew Eric Boynton.  The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the wonderful nurses and caregivers from Hospice Care in the Berkshires.  

Funeral notice: The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on June 11, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Church, 414 North St., Pittsfield. 

Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
