Cecelia J. Chesbro, 91

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Cecelia Jane (Seroka) Chesbro of 226 Bradley St. Ext. and a winter resident Boynton Beach, Fla., died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at the Williamstown Commons.

She was born in Winchester, N.H., on June 26, 1924, a daughter of the late Peter and Joanna (Napierkoski) Seroka. She graduated with the class of 1942 from Thayer High School.

Cecelia was employed in the payroll department at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. in Winchester and later worked for the Public Service Company of New Hampshire. She moved to Williamstown with her family in 1957. She was employed as a secretary at Mount Hope and last employed as the secretary to the director of food service at Baxter Hall at Williams College, retiring in 1979.

She and her husband lived in Florida in the winter and at their home on Windsor Lake in the summer. She was communicant of St. Francis Church, North Adams, and St. Thomas, Boynton, Fla. Cecelia was a member of the V.F.W Ladies Auxiliary Post #3968 in Winchester, N.H.; the Moose Lodge #46 of Lake Worth, Fla.; Citizen Observer Patrol of Palm Beach County, Fla.; National Retired Federal Employees Association and the Mountain Club in Adams.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed family, cooking, reading, ceramics, card playing and the Boston Red Sox.  

Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Chesbro, whom she married October 19, 1946; one daughter, Linda Jean Chesbro of Williamstown; one son, Robert L. Chesbro and his wife Liz of Williamstown; five grandchildren, Robert V. Chesbro, Samuel Whitney, Matthew Feldeworth, Kaitlin Gallese and Julie Washburn; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by daughter Jane Feldeworth; a grandson, V. Robert Chesbro; and four brothers and one sister.

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Cecelia Chesbro will take place Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home.
