Elsie E. Serrano, 64

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Elsie E. Serrano, 64, of Elm Street died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at North Adams Regional Hospital following a long illness.

Born in New Ashford on March 26, 1938, daughter of Ethel Packard Raney of Bennington, Vt., and the late William H. Raney, she attended schools there.

In her earlier years, Mrs. Serrano was employed at former Hunter Outdoor Products and the former X-Tyal. She was most recently employed at North Adams Regional Hospital in the housekeeping department.

She enjoyed flowers and sewing.

Besides her mother, she leaves her husband, Juan Serrano Sr., whom she married Sept. 4, 1959, in Stephentown, N.Y.; three sons, Carlos Serrano and Juan Serrano Jr., both of Adams, and Roberto "Bert" Serrano of North Adams; three daughters, Juanita Serrano-Martinez of North Adams, Rosita "Zita" Serrano of Clarksburg and Elena "Cookie" Serrano-Briggs of Adams; a stepdaughter, Edna Salvatore of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Martha Paquin of North Bennington, Vt., and Catherine Newton of Lanesborough; two brothers, Ralph Raney of Pownal, Vt., and Arnold Raney of Savoy; 18 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, William "Billy" Raney Jr.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Serrano will be held at Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel, Williamstown, on Friday morning at 11 a.m. The burial will take place in the family lot in East Lawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Friends may call at the GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., when the family will be in attendance.
