Anna V. Grillone, 79
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Anna Veronica Grillone, 79, of 45 Furnace St. died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at North Adams Regional Hospital, after she was admitted because of a brief illness.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 29, 1923, daughter of Donato and Rosa Curto Falco, she was a 1940 graduate of Drury High School. She also attended the former Bliss Business College.
Mrs. Grillone was employed by Gallup & Dickey Insurance Agency, formerly Ford & Malcolm Inc. Insurance, for more than 40 years, retiring in 1988. She also had worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. and, during World War II, in the production of gas masks at the former Sprague Electric Co.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a charter member of the former Italian Catholic Girls Club of North Adams. She also was a member of the Clarksburg Seniors Club.
She and her husband, Peter Joseph Grillone, would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Oct. 19, 2002.
Besides her husband, she leaves a sister, Columbia Mercando and her husband, Joseph, of Worcester, and a brother, Anthony B. Falco and his wife, Joan, of Clarksburg.
She was predeceased by her sister Mary Falco Lora and brothers Mark Falco and Francesco "Frank" Falco.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mrs. Grillone will take place Monday, Oct. 21, at 8:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Our Lady of Mercy Shrine, 1282 Massachusetts Ave., with the Rev. Daniel O'Hear, pastor of St. Anthony's Church, officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Oct. 20, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for St. Anthony's Church or St. Jude's Children's Fund through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
