Ida May DeGrenier, 71

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ida May DeGrenier, 71, of 160 Phelps Ave. died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on June 11, 1932, a daughter of Everett Thomas and of Rose Gelinas Thomas Walczak, she attended schools in Troy, N.Y., and moved to North Adams,Ma. at the age of 16 years. Mrs. DeGrenier and her husband, Clarence "Bob" DeGrenier, owned and operated the former Donna's Dairy Bar in Clarksburg and later the Artery Lounge on Holden Street until 1990. She also had worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. and former Sprague Electric Co. She and her husband were residents of Fort Myers, Fla., for 10 months of the years. A communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, she was also a communicant of St. Columbkille Church in Florida. She was a member of the Thunderbirds Mobile Home Park Women's Club in Florida and loved crocheting, baking and traveling. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Bsides her husband, whom she married April 24, 1954, in St. Francis Church, she leaves a daughter, Donna DeGrenier LaFleur and her husband, Ronald, with whom she made her home; a son, Robert E. DeGrenier of Williamstown; three sisters, Margaret Kryston, Dorothy Pennock and Laura Comeau, all of North Adams; a brother, Norman Thomas of North Adams; three grandchildren, Jason LeFleur, Maria LeFleur and Jessica De Grenier; her step father-in-law, Bernard "Jack" O'Neil of North Adam; three godchildren, Stephen Pennock, Diane Snyder and Rose Marie Collier, and nieces, nephews,grandnieces, grandnephews and aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her daughter Dorothy Ann DeGrenier, at age of 5 1/2 years, and her sister Lorraine Townes on Sept. 28, 2003. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral Services for Mrs. DeGrenier will take place Thursday morning at 10:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church,North Adams,Ma. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling Hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams,Ma. are Wednesday from 4P.M. to 8P.M. Memorial Donations are suggested for the North Adams Ambulance Service or to the Eileen Barrett Oncology Unit at North Adams Regional Hospital through the funeral home.
