Mary Sanders, 84
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Mary Sanders, 84, of 1154 Center Lane, Palm Bay, Fla., formerly of North Adams, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at Providence Care Center of Lenox, where she had resided since April.
Born in North Adams on May 14, 1920, daughter of Louis and Alfreda Arigoni Vanuni, she graduated from Drury High School in 1937. She moved to Palm Bay in 1981.
Mrs. Sanders was employed as a teller by Berkshire Bank and the Northampton Institution of Savings, until retiring.
An avid golfer, she also enjoyed bowling, gardening, crocheting and crafts. She was a member of the Melbourne (Fla.) Municipal Golf Association.
Her husband, Howard V. Sanders, whom she married Nov. 3, 1945, in St. Anthony's Church, died May 13, 2003.
She leaves a son, J. Michael Sanders and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Bennington, Vt.; two daughters, Wendy Donovan and Jill Hulland and her husband, Robert, all of Pittsfield; a brother, Carl Vanuni of North Adams; two sisters, Clotilde Astorino of North Adams and Edith Brooks of Palm Bay, seven grandchildren, Timothy Donovan, Molly Hoffman, Megan Donovan, Tiffany Ritcey, Shelby Sanders, and Eric and Jeffrey Hulland and two great-grandchildren, Donovan Hoffman and James Hulland.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Sanders will be celebrated Friday, July 16, at 11 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pittsfield, by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., will be Friday from 9:30 to 10:30.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Providence Care Center of Lenox Employee Fund or HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
