Wayne H. Champagne
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Wayne H. Champagne, 60, of 65 Quincy St. died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at home after being stricken there.
Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Aug. 5, 1944, son of Betty M. Gebo Champagne of North Adams and the late Francis J. Champagne, he attended schools in Plattsburgh and North Adams, including the former St. Joseph's grammar and high schools.
Mr. Champagne was employed in construction, working for several companies in the area. He first worked at the former Widen Tannery and for a hairbrush manufacturer in Pownal, Vt., and later with his father at the former Talo Trucking Co.
He enjoyed lifting weights, boating, fishing, music and the outdoors. He also enjoyed repairing cars.
Besides his mother, he leaves his former wife, Patricia George Morgan of Pownal; a daughter, Tammy Champagne, stationed with the Army in Iraq; a son, Steven Champagne of Pownal; three sisters, Bonnie E. Cyrulik of Adams, Janet L. Zappula of North Adams and Kimberly A. Fortini of Cheshire; two brothers, Clark E. Champagne of North Adams and Kenneth G. Champagne of Minot, Maine, and a grandchild, Tyler Champagne of Pownal.
His longtime companion, Lynn Vincent, died March 15 and his brother Frankie James Champagne died June 12, 1969.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services for family and friends of Mr. Champagne will take place Friday, April 8,at 1:30 at the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There will be no calling hours.
