Esther B. Rivest, 79

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Esther Barbara Rivest, 79, of South Hadley, a native of North Adams, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Meadowood Nursing Home in South Hadley after a short illness.

Born on Sept. 18, 1921, daughter of Vito and Josephine Aveta Vitro, she graduated from Drury High School.

Mrs. Rivest was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. and then by Adams Plastics in Holyoke for more than 20 years, retiring in 1975.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley and of St. Anthony's in North Adams, and a member of the Women's Auxiliary for Disabled American Veterans.

Her husband, Roland Robert Rivest, whom she married May 6, 1961, in St. Anthony's Church, died May 12, 2000.

She leaves a daughter, Beverly Ann Rivest of Topsfield, and a brother, Francis Vitro of Cambridge, N.Y.

She was predeceased by four sisters and a brother, Jennie Vitro, Josephine Messina, Angelina Morris, Teresa Thomas and Joseph Vitro.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 6, at 9:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, June 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Memorial donations are suggested for St. Anthony's Building Fund.
