Angelina E. Morandi, 90

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Angelina Edith Morandi, 90, of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph's Court, a former longtime resident of 17 Hall St., died Wednesday, Oct 5, 2005, at McMaster University Medical Center in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, after being stricken while visiting her family.

Born in North Adams on Jan. 3, 1915, daughter of John L. and Caterina Leonesio Girardi, she attended schools there.

Mrs. Morandi was employed by the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. for more than 14 years, retiring in 1977. She also had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and was a caretaker for James and Irene Hunter of Paradise Farm in Stamford, Vt.

She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church, and a member of the Hairpin Turners Square Dancing Club and Her Majesty's Army and Navy Club in Hamilton.

Her husband, James Paul Morandi, whom she married May 28, 1938, in St. Anthony's Church, died Sept. 10, 1982.

She leaves two daughters, Lois Bona and her husband, James, of Stamford, Vt., and Lynn Goruk and her husband, William, of Hamilton; a son, James John Morandi and his wife, Lisa, of North Adams; a brother, William M. Girardi Sr. and his wife, Rose, of North Adams; nine grandchildren and spouses to whom she was a beloved Nonni, Constance and Dennis Doherty, Keith and Anne Bona, Todd Goruk, Julie Goruk and her fiance, Scott, James, Jennifer and Stefani Goruk, and Nichole and James D. Morandi; four great-grandchildren, AJ and Elizabeth Bona, Amber Thomas and Regi Goruk; her sister-in-law, Connie Girardi, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

A brother, Valentino "Tino" Girardi, is deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mrs. Morandi will be Monday at 10:15 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 3 to 6. Donations may be made to the North Adams Sons of Italy or to a charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.
