Anthony F. Scarpitto, 64

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Anthony Francis Scarpitto, 64, of 10 Rand St. died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at the home of his former wife, Elizabeth Sinclair, of 75 Commercial St., Adams, after a long illness. Born in North Adams on March 29, 1941, son of James and Wanda Sudacki Scarpitto, he was a 1959 graduate of Drury High School. A Navy veteran, he served on the USS Shenandoah from Sept. 23, 1959, to Sept. 20, 1963. A self-employed painter, Mr. Scarpitto retired from that and from Ransford Properties. He previously was employed by the former Arnold Print Works in Adams. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion. He enjoyed painting and playing cards. Besides his former wife, he leaves two sons, James A. Scarpitto and his wife, Kerry, of Pittsfield and Eric S. Scarpitto and his wife, Michelle, of Adams; a daughter, Carrie Watts and her husband, Richard, of Mercer, Wis.; a sister, Jean Atwood of Rowe, and eight grandchildren, Leighanne, Nicholas, Meghan, Austin, Tristan and Evan Anthony Scarpitto, and Searle and Erica Watts, and nieces, nephews, cousins and his cat, Whiner. He was predeceased by a sister, Louise "Tootsie" Cardimino. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Scarpitto will be Wednesday at 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapel. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
