Wanda E. Dolle, 99
CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Wanda E. Dolle, 99, of 541 West Road died Wednesday evening, Jan. 24, 2006, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Adams on March 18, 1906, daughter of Paul and Selma Thiel Scholz, she attended Adams schools, graduating from the former Liberty Street Grammar School.
Mrs. Dolle's family owned a farm at the foot of Mount Greylock, which the Cheshire Harbor Trail to Greylock ran through. The site is now the starting point for the annual Greylock Ramble.
She worked on the farm and in the former Berkshire Mills in Adams. She moved to Clarksburg in 1928, becoming a homemaker for her family.
She was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church, North Adams. She was an active charter member of the Parent-Teacher Association of the former Houghtonville School, serving in every office over the years.
She enjoyed canning vegetables and berries, taking care of her flower garden and making quilts, dresses, curtains and hooked rugs. She loved animals.
Her husband, William H. Dolle, whom she married on June 19, 1928, died May 22, 1995.
She is survived by a son, William A. Dolle and his wife, Theresa, of Clarksburg, and nieces and nephews.
The last of her immediate family, she was predeceased by four brothers, Alexander, Felix, Louis and Emil Scholz, and by two sisters, Minnie Cann and Julia Dolle.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral and burial services for Mrs. Dolle will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests donations be made to the Greylock Animal Hospital Stray Animal Fund, through AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
