Frank M. Maroni, 84

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Frank M. Maroni, 84, of 26 Greene Ave. died Monday, March 6, 2006, at home. Born in North Adams on Jan. 4, 1922, son of Joseph and Gertrude Vicari Maroni, he attended schools in Clarksburg. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with Company C, 53 Armored Infantry Battalion, 4th Armored Division as a light machine gunner in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge, Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. Wounded in action, he was decorated with the Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. In his younger years, Mr. Maroni was employed with the late Joseph C. Lazzeri in the home construction business, where he learned the carpenter trade. He then was employed at the former Windsor Print Works, followed by the Sprague Electric Co. until 1970. He was last employed at Williams College in Williamstown in the Carpenter's Shop, retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a former communicant of Our Lady of the Incarnation Church. He was a charter member of the Peter Cook Post 9144 VFW in Clarksburg, and a member of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion. He was lifetime member of the Greylock Community Club, a member of the Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club and the Stamford Valley Golf Club. He coached Little League baseball for several years. He was a member of the North Adams Men's Bowling League and the 4th Armored Division Veterans Club. He was a fan of both the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals. He leaves his wife of 57 years, March 6, 2006, the former Rita Catherine Jammallo, whom he married May 1, 1948, in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Nancy Wise and her husband, Dale, of Port Orange, Fla.; a sister, Ida Estes and her husband, Lester, of Bennington, Vt.; two brothers, Ugo Maroni and his wife, Jeannette, of Stamford, Vt., and John Maroni and his wife, Maryann, of Clarksburg; a grandson, Dale Wise Jr., and a brother-in-law, Severino Bormolini. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rena Bormolini and Louise Maroni. FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Maroni will take place Friday, March 10, at 10:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams. Burial will follow with military honors in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams Ambulance Service, Shriner's Children Hospital or the Jimmy Fund through the funeral home.
