Josephine B. Ciavarella, 82
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Josephine Beatrice Ciavarella, 82, of 59 George Ave. died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at North Adams Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in North Adams on March 24, 1924, daughter of Frank and Concetta Tomaselli Aragose, the family moved to Italy in 1926 and she attended schools there. The family returned to North Adams in 1947.
Mrs. Ciavarella was employed with the former Sprague Electric Co. until her retirement. Prior to that, she worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. on Brown Street until it ceased operations.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church of North Adams.
She and her husband, Angelo Ciavarella, were married on June 23, 1958, in Pompeii, Italy.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, she leaves two daughters, Maria MacDonald and her husband, Glenn, of Griswold, Conn., and Concetta Sparrow and her husband, Greg, of Ringoes, N.J.; three grandchildren, Amanda MacDonald of Griswold, Conn., and Rose and Grace Sparrow of Ringoes, N.J., and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Lidyia Favuzza, Joan B. Aragose and Rita Aragose, and a brother, Silvio Aragose.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Ciavarella will take place Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-Montagna FUNERAL HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 64 Marshall St.
Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested for St. Anthony's Church through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
