Lillian A. Hartwig, 72
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Lillian Ann Stachelek Hartwig, 72, of 756 South Church St. died Monday afternoon, Dec. 25, 2000, at her home.
Born in Burlington, Vt., on Aug. 28, 1928, daughter of William and Josephine Barra DeFazio, she attended Sacred Heart Academy Elementary and High School in Burlington. She had been a resident of North Adams for the past 55 years.
Mrs. Hartwig was employed for 40 years at the former Sprague Electric Co. until her her retirement in 1993.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and she enjoyed arts and crafts and traveling to Hampton, N.H.
She leaves her husband Edward O. Hartwig, whom she married Dec. 19, 1959; a son Joseph P. Stachelek of North Adams; a stepdaughter, Shirley Fachini of Savoy; a brother, John DeFazio of Leominster; four sisters, Madeline O'Brien of Burlington, Louisa Garganigo of Shrewsbury, Jenny Tormey of Leominster and Theresa Vincent of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two grandaughters, Tracy Brosnihan of Berwick, Maine, and Lisa Stachelek of North Adams, stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services will be held at l0:15 a.m. on Friday from the AUGE-SAN SOUCIE SIMMONS Funeral Home, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in her memory be made to the Patients Resource Fund at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Cancer Unit, through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
