Theodore L. Shogry Sr., 77
WINDSOR, Mass. — Theodore Louis Shogry Sr., 77, of 23 Monyhan Road, died Monday, March 5, 2007, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 3, 1929, son of Louis M. Shogry Sr. and Bessie V. Rabay Shogry, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He was a veteran of the Army.
A musician for 57 years, Mr. Shogry was leader of the Ted Shogry Orchestra. He played with the Fabulous Hi-Fis, and was proprietor of Ted Shogry's Music Center on North Street. He also sold insurance for both Nationwide and The Prudential. He also had worked as a finishing carpenter.
He was a member of the musicians union and gave music lessons and concerts at the senior center and in nursing homes. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He leaves a son, Theodore L. Shogry Jr. of Pittsfield; three daughters, Pamela Durham of Pittsfield, Susan Massery of Courtland, N.Y., and Diane Vittone of Pownal, Vt.; two brothers, Edward Shogry of Charleston, S.C. and Frederick Shogry of Pittsfield; two sisters, Helen George of South Portland, Maine, and Mildred Billings of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, Andrew Sturtevant, Jacquelyn Sturtevant, and Daniel Sturtevant, Lisa Massery, Gregory Massery and Kimberly Massery, and Jennifer Vittone and Nicholas Vittone; and two great-grandchildren, Gregory Nathan Dugan and Alexander Cory Wood.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Louis M. Shogry Jr., Albert Shogry and Richard Shogry; and two sisters, Katherine Caron and Louise George.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Shogry will be Friday at 10:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours are tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Renal Dialysis BMC in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
