Lillian May Wiles

Lillian May Wiles, 89, of 61 Foucher Ave. died Tuesday at Sweetbrook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in the Blackinton section on Dec. 15, 1917, daughter of Albert and Eudocha Holland Rondeau, she attended local schools, including the former Archer School and Drury High School, graduating with the Class of 1935. Mrs. Wiles was primarily a homemaker. She assisted her husband with cooking for the Psi Upsilon fraternity at Williams College, where he was a chef. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Incarnation Church in the Blackinton section, a member of the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary 996 and the local Northern Berkshire. She was also a member of the Southern Vermont Camping Association and the C-B Radio Club; her handle was "Battle Ax." Her husband, George Tevelyn Wiles, died Oct. 30, 1990. They were married on Feb. 12, 1937. She leaves three daughters, Joann Gaffey and Georgia Rand, both of North Adams, and Jacqueline Mason of Pownal, Vt.; two sons, William Tevelyn Wiles of Marlton, N.J., and Franklin Albert Wiles of North Adams; a brother, Albert Rondeau of North Adams; sister, Vivian Dale of Adams; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Lillian May Wiles, who died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, will take place Friday at 10:15 a.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church in North Adams, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours are today at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Donations may be made to the Shriner's Burn Center in care of the funeral home. She was predeceased by two sisters, Eudocha Richard and Jean Purdy; two brothers, Andrew Rondeau and G. Nelson Rondeau; and a great-grandson, Nathan Sherman.
