Theresa Rogers, 97

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Theresa Rogers, 97, of Peachtree Drive in Savannah, Ga., formerly of Framingham and North Adams, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Savannah Commons.

Born in North Adams on March 21, 1910, daughter of Francesco and Anna Murano Gamari, she attended local schools and graduated from the former North Adams State College with a teaching degree in 1929. She received her bachelor's degree in education at Framingham State College in 1966.

Mrs. Rogers taught in one-room schools in Cambridge, N.Y., and Thetford, Vt., before returning to North Adams to teach at the former Johnson Elementary School. In 1946, she and her husband, Joseph J. Rogers, moved to Boston, where she taught special needs students at the private Kingsley School. In 1952, the family moved to Framingham, and she returned to teaching special needs students in 1959, retiring in 1979. She moved to Savannah in 2005.

Mrs. Rogers was a former member of St. Bridget's Church in Framingham. She was a dedicated teacher, a loving wife and mother, and a warm and generous friend.

She and her husband were married in 1946.

Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Ann Rogers and Arvo Henifin of Savannah; a sister, Amelia Cronin of Westerly, R.I.; two grandchildren, Thomas and Sabrina Henifin, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Monterosso, and seven brothers, Michael, Silvio, Anthony, Ernest, Joseph, Jerry, and Henry Gamari.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mrs. Rogers will be conducted at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 or South Middlesex Association for Retarded Citizens P.O. Box 460 Ashland, MA 01721.
