Bernard T. Beauchemin, 83
ADAMS, Mass. — Bernard Theophile Beauchemin, 83, of 1 Cedar Lane died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Adams on Dec. 31, 1924, son of Albert and Albertine Brodeur Beauchemin, he attended local schools.
An Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, he served until his honorable discharge in 1945.
Mr. Beauchemin was employed as a welder in the transformer division of General Electric, retiring in 1987 after 37 1/2 years of service.
He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas. He was a member of Post 160 American Legion and the Adams Democratic Committee. An avid sports enthusiast, he also enjoyed camping. He was a wonderful family man and loving grandfather.
He and his wife, the former Josephine "Dixie" Dyka, were married July 26, 1952.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Bernard T. Beauchemin Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Seekonk; four daughters, Kim A. Collamore and her husband, Philip, of Lacey, Wash., Margaret J. Brown of Adams, Lynn A. Taft and her husband, Lawrence, of North Adams, and Terri J. Melville and her husband, Eugene "Mitty" Melville Jr., of Pownal, Vt.; two brothers, Albert Beauchemin and Richard Beauchemin, both of Adams; a sister, Jeannette Ford of North Adams, eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jessica Taft.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral will be celebrated Thursday, April 17, at 9 a.m. from Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Roman Catholic Parishes of Adams.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Senior Citizens or to the Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home.
