William T. Sprowson, 90
ADAMS, Mass. — William T. Sprowson, 90, formerly of 27 Overlook Terrace, died Saturday evening, Nov. 22, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 20, 1918, son of William H. and Florence Deguzzi Sprowson, he attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1936. He moved to Adams in 1941.
Mr. Sprowson was employed in the Transformer Department at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield as a foreman for more than 30 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a longtime member of the Berkshire Lodge of Masons.
His wife, the former Mildred Johnson, whom he married June 15, 1940, died July 1, 2002.
He leaves a daughter, Jo Ann Martin of Venice, Fla.; two brothers, Edward Sprowson of Connecticut and James Sprowson of North Adams; two sisters, Emily Filiault of Stamford, Vt., and Elizabeth Barron of Williamstown; three grandchildren, Melissa Martin of Bennington, Vt., and Timothy Martin and Richard Martin, both of Adams; three great-grandchildren, Richard Martin Jr., Shelby Martin and MacKensie Martin, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Albert Sprowson, and by a sister, Mae Osborn.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for William T. Sprowson will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. from Trottier-Pringle Funeral Home, 6 Summer St., Adams, by the Rev. Donald Gray, pastor of First Baptist Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Donations in his memory may be made to the Adams Ambulance Fund or the Adams Alert Hose Company through the funeral home.
