Charles W. Morse III, 73
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Charles William Morse III, 73, of 18 Nelson St., died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at home.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 3, 1936, son of Geraldine R. Grady Morse and the late North Adams Police Capt. Charles W. Morse Jr., he attended the Clark School for the Deaf in Northampton and later transferred to the former St. Joseph's Grammar and High schools. He later completed a welding course in the postgraduate program at McCann Technical School.
Mr. Morse was employed as an arc welder with the former General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for more than 20 years, until his retirement. He first worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. on Beaver Street.
He was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the former North Adams Moose Club. He was an avid photographer and cinema buff and also devoted much time to the study of astronomy and space technology.
Besides his mother, with whom he resided, he leaves two sisters, Joyce Forth and Sarah Morse, both of Williamstown; two brothers, retired Master Gunnery Sgt. Mark A. Morse of La Mesa, Calif., and Joseph L. Morse of South Yarmouth, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews
Another brother, Michael Grady Morse, died Oct. 29, 1978.
FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services for Mr. Morse will be Wednesday, May 13, at 8:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Elizabeth's Church on Marshall Street. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal, Vt.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, May 12, from 4 to 8. Any memorial donations are suggested for the McCann Technical School postgraduate program.
