Howard D. Blood, 89

STAMFORD, Vt. — Howard D. Blood, 89, of Port Orange, Fla., a native of Stamford, died Monday, June 22, 2009, at Port Orange Hospice Center. Born on Dec. 15, 1919, son of Harry and Florence Jepson Blood, he attended Stamford Elementary School and graduated from Drury High School in North Adams, Mass. He also graduated from the Vermont State School of Agriculture in Randolph in 1939. He served in the National Guard from 1953 to 1956. Mr. Blood helped operate the family's Blood Farm in Stamford. He also worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams and retired from the former Deerfield Glassine Co. in Monroe, Mass., in 1983. He leaves a daughter, Cynthia B. Krueger of Bristol, Conn.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Sutton and her husband, Chris, of Southbury, Conn., Jason Krueger and his wife, Debbie, and Matthew Krueger and his wife, Jamie, all of Bristol, and Joshua Krueger of Plainville, Conn.; six great-grandchildren, Brandi Carew, Jared, Hannah, Cole, Zoe and Adam Krueger, several nieces and nephews and his special friend Stephanie Therrien of Port Orange. He was predeceased by his former wife, Julia Busby Blood Landry, his five brothers and sisters Marion Lawrence, Christine Rice, Frances Allen, Roger Blood and Ralph Blood, and his son-in-law, Gary A. Krueger. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Blood will be held on Saturday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at Millard Cemetery in Stamford. There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, is in charge of arrangements.
