Margaret L. Bleau, 88
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Margaret Lena "Marge" Bleau, 88, of 429 East Main St. died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born in North Adams on Aug. 9, 1921, daughter of Leonard and Mabel Martin Dowling, she graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in 1939.
Mrs. Bleau was employed by Williams College, working at its Tyler House from 1972 until her retirement in 1987. She first worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. and later at the former Gaevert Film and Sprague Electric companies.
She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church. She was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion and enjoyed bowling. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her husband, Thomas Norman "Norm" Bleau, whom she married Sept. 28, 1946, who died on April 2, 2005.
She leaves two daughters, Carol Boucher and her husband, Michael, with whom she made her home and Diane Bleau, also of North Adams; two sons, Thomas L. Bleau of North Adams and Robert A. Bleau of Pownal, Vt.; a sister, Mildred E. Smith of North Adams; seven grandchildren, Katie Boucher, Sara Boucher, Michael Boucher, Shannon VanderWood, Aja Daugherty, James Bleau and Lindsay Bleau; eight great-grandchildren, Zoe, Tyler, Kiera, Darren, Shaliyah, Chase, Payton, and Rosie; and two nieces and a nephew, Susan Demers, Maureen Phillips and Kevin Smith.
A sister, Alice Babula, is deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Bleau will be Saturday, July 24, at 9:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 23, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire or St. John's Kitchen in care of the funeral home.
