Virginia Roark Colo, 86
PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Virginia Adalla Roark Colo, 86, of Weaverville, N.C., and formerly of Pittsfield, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, in Asheville, N.C.
Born in Putney, Vt., on Oct. 7, 1923, daughter of Will and Clara Tarbox Burgess.
Mrs. Colo worked at the former General Electric Co. for 23 years in Naval Ordnance and aerospace until her retirement.
Following her retirement, she moved to North Carolina with her husband of 32 years, Isaac Colo.
Besides her husband, she leaves four sons, William Roark and his wife, Gloria, of Pittsfield; Thomas Roark and his wife, Sondra, of Wilmington, N.C.; David Roark and his wife, Donna, of Hampton, Va.; and Joseph Roark and his wife, Janet, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one daughter, Virginia Roark, and her husband, Kevin Walsh, of Crested Butte, Colo.; a stepson, Bernard Colo, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Medway, Mass.; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A son, Stephen Roark, died in 1970. Two brothers, Richard and Philip Burgess, are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Colo will be Saturday, Sept. 11, at 8:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery in Readsboro, Vt.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American
Cancer Society.
