Edward A. Clermont, 86
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Edward Arthur "Jack" Clermont, 86, of 63 Phelps Ave. died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at Sweet Brook Care Centers.
Born in Adams on Oct. 17, 1924, son of Henri and Alexina Rancourt Clermont, he graduated from the former Adams High School in 1943.
A Marine combat veteran of World War II, he served 30 months in the Pacific and participated in action against the enemy on Eniwetok, Guam and Okinawa. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He also received the Good Conduct Medal and Certificate of Satisfactory Service. He was honorably discharged as a corporal on Jan. 9, 1946.
Mr. Clermont worked for New England Power Co. for 45 years until his retirement in 1988.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
He leaves his wife, the former Mary Madelyn Charbonneau, whom he married on April 10, 1948 in Notre Dame Church; two daughters, Jacquelyn Clermont of Arlington and Janice A. Andrews and her husband, Randy, of North Adams; a sister, Aline Lord of Adams, two grandsons, Brad W. Andrews and Aaron E. Andrews, both of North Adams, and nieces and nephews.
His 15 brothers and sisters are deceased, including Armand Clermont, Regina Barbeau and Jeanne Dupuis.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mr. Clermont will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams.
Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 10, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire in care of the funeral home.
