William A. Cribari Sr., 89

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - William Anthony Cribari Sr., 89, formerly of Pines Lodge Park died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Providence Care Center of Lenox with his wife, Verna, by his side. Born in Steelton, Pa., on Sept. 21, 1921, a son of Luigi and Fortuna Cairo Cribari, he attended schools in Steelton. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe where he received a Purple Heart. Mr. Cribari was last employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in North Adams until his retirement. He first worked in steel mills in Pennsylvania and later at Aldo's Painting Wallpaper in North Adams and the former Arnold Print Works. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church in North Adams. He was a member of Frank R. Stiles American Legion Post 125, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 996 and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed woodworking and golf. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He and his wife, the former Verna Helen Lamore, were married on May 18, 1946, in the former Notre Dame Church in North Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves his daughter, Donna Marie Slowick of Pittsfield; a son, William A. Cribari Jr. of Williamstown; four grandchildren, Katie Cribari, Russell MacAlpine, Alan Slowick and Jessica Scully; three great-grandchildren, Emilia Scully, Averie Cribari and Connor Cribari and nieces and nephews He was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Adele Smeriglio, Anthony Cribari and Frank Cribari FUNERAL NOTICE - Calling hours for Mr. Cribari will be Sunday, Jan. 30, from 3 to 6 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels. Burial with full military honors will take place in the springtime in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Providence Care Center of Lenox or Hospice Care of the Berkshires in Pittsfield, MA through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.

Verna and Family; So sorry to hear about Bill's
passing. I have many fond memories of all of
you when I lived in NA and when Red worked at the
Post Office. My prayers are with you and hope
you will get some consolation that he is now in
a better place. All my love to all of you.
