Alfred Z. Bourdon, 82
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Alfred Z. "Sonny" Bourdon, 82, of 376 Church St. died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at home.
Born in Adams on Jan. 11, 1929, a son of Alfred and Helen Michaels Bourdon, he attended schools in North Adams and graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1947.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he served 35 years with the Massachusetts National Guard and obtained the rank lieutenant colonel.
Mr. Bourdon was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 38 years and later with the former Naval Ordnance at GE in Pittsfield.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a member of the North Adams Elks Lodge.
He and his wife, the former Helen Rougeau, were married Jan. 8, 1949, in the former St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Hope Bourdon and Martha Rodriguez and her husband, Dr. Oscar Rodriguez, all of North Adams; two sons, Keith Bourdon and his wife, Joyce, of Taunton and Brian Bourdon of North Adams, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Another daughter, Paula Raymond, died June 1, 2004, and his grandson Richard Lussier died June 16, 1985.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Bourdon will be celebrated Wednesday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church in North Adams. Burial will follow with military honors in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.
