Helen M. Peters, 88
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Helen Mary Peters, 88, of 104 Johnson St. died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Adams on Feb. 11, 1923, daughter of Frank and Mary Clala Mancuso, she attended North Adams schools.
Mrs. Peters was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. on Brown Street until her retirement. Before that, she assisted her husband in the operation of Fran Peters Arco Station from 1964 to 1981. She also worked as a waitress and hostess at the Williams Inn in Williamstown for many years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She enjoyed her home and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her husband, Francis A. Peters, whom she married on April 21, 1956, in the former St. Francis' Church, died on April 6, 2001.
She leaves three daughters, Tamara S. "Tammy" Peters of North Adams, and Mary Capehart and her husband, Russell, and Ann West and her husband, Robert, all of Stamford, Vt.; a brother, Joseph Mancuso of Tavares, Fla.; a sister, Mary Maisonnade and her husband, Robert, of Oneonta, N.Y., and nieces and nephews.
A brother, John Mancuso, was killed in World War II.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Peters will be Saturday, July 23, at 11 from First Baptist Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 22, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, North Adams Ambulance Service or Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of the funeral home.
