Ralph A. Morgan Sr., 71
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ralph A. Morgan Sr., 71, of 4 Iroquois Drive died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at his home.
Born in Plattsburg, N.Y., on Nov. 15, 1939, a son of Henry and Leona Goodrow Morgan, he attended schools in New York and North Adams.
A decorated Air Force veteran, he served during both the Korean and Vietnam wars as a jet engineer.
Mr. Morgan was employed for many years as a welder at the former General Electric Co. in Pittsfield.
He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying planes, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He was member of both the Tunnel City Bass club and the Bass Masters.
His wife, the former Jean Strack, whom he married March 22, 1961, died March 6, 2010.
He leaves two daughters, Cathy Morgan and Laurie Morgan, both of North Adams; two sons, Ralph Morgan Jr. and Robert Morgan, both of North Adams; three sisters, Patricia Jolin of Lanesborough, Mary Hewitt of Pownal, Vt., and Beverly Briggs of North Adams; a brother, Richard Morgan of North Carolina, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his grandson Nicholas Morgan and his brothers Robert and Rolland Morgan.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services for Mr. Morgan will take place Friday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. in Southview Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
