Richard A. Barbeau, 76

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Richard Arthur Barbeau, 76, of 81 Holbrook St. died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Williamstown Commons. Born in Adams on March 30, 1936, a son of Rouville and Regina Clermont Barbeau, he graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1954. He also graduated from the Chicago Drafting School. He served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Barbeau was employed as a draftsman at the former General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He first worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church in North Adams. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards and collecting coins. He enjoyed spending summers at his Lake Camp in Cossayuna, N.Y. His wife, the former Bernadette Marie Fortini, whom he married July 14, 1956, in the former St. Anthony of Padua Church, died Oct. 26, 2007. He leaves two sons, Mark Edward Barbeau and his wife, Laurie, and Paul Ernest Barbeau (and Anissa Forbush), all of North Adams; a sister, Lorraine Lepel of Sun City, Ariz.; a brother, Bernard Barbeau of Adams, and three grandchildren, Mandy Morin, Justine Barbeau and Steven Barbeau. He was predeceased his brothers William, F. Edward and Robert Barbeau. FUNERAL NOTICE — A liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Barbeau will take place Friday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Donations in Mr. Barbeau's memory can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
