Richard J. Hynes, 76

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Richard Joseph Hynes, 76, of 45 Spring St. died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at his home.

Born in North Adams on Jan. 14, 1936, son of Clayton and Gertrude Shields Hynes, he attended city schools.

He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Hynes was employed by Art Johnson Concrete Forming in New Ashford for about 20 years, until retiring in 1998.

He was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion and North Adams Elks. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf.

He leaves his former wife, Mary Lou Hynes of North Adams; a son, Army Col. Michael Hynes of Alexandria, Va.; two daughters, Maureen Louise Hynes and Jayne Lavariere, both of North Adams, and three grandchildren, Gary Lavariere, Joshua Hynes and Carrie Hynes.

His brother, Thomas Hynes, and sister, Patricia Razzano, predeceased him.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Hynes will be Monday, May 21, at 10:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Following cremation, burial will take place in Southview Cemetery on Wednesday, May 23, at 3 p.m.

Calling hours will be Sunday, May 20, from 2 to 4 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
