David P. Betti, 79

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - David Peter Betti, 79, of 74 Cady St. died peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at his home. Born in North Adams on June 29, 1932, a son of Benjamin F. and Mary Louise Bolger Betti, he graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1950. He also graduated from Fordham University in 1954. A decorated Air Force veteran, he obtained the rank of captain with the 352nd Bombardment Squadron. After his military service, Mr. Betti joined the family business founded by his father and was co-owner and operator of the Climax Candy Co., and later Climax Candy and Paper Co., with his brother, James Betti, until retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. He was a life member of the North Adams Elks Lodge and a member of the Sons of Italy, North Adams American Legion Post 125 and Disabled American Veterans. He served on the Board of Health and was a member of the North Adams Democratic Committee. He was an avid reader and loved spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife, the former Lois Mutart, were married June 20, 1953, in St. Anthony's Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Catherine Baldessarini and her husband, Craig, of North Adams; four sons, Gregory Betti and his wife, Jacquie, of North Adams, Jeffrey Betti and his wife, Carol, of Williamstown, Dr. James Betti and his wife, Patti, of Rye, N.H., and David Betti and his wife, Marybeth, of Mundelein, Ill.; his brother, James V. Betti and his wife, Jane, of North Adams; seven grandchildren, Christopher Peters, Brian, Daniel, Ross, Evan, Mark and Patrick Betti; and his mother-in-law, Emma Hazel Jobin of Stamford, Vt., , and a brother-in-law, Alan Mutart and his wife, Barbara, of North Adams. He was predeceased by his brother Benjamin J. Betti . FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 11, at 11 from St. Elizabeth's Church, North Adams. Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours will be Sunday, June 10, from 4 to 7 at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home.
