Karlene J. Brothers, 70
STAMFORD, Vt. - Karlene Joanne Brothers, 70, of 179 Basin Road died Monday, July 9, 2012, at North Adams (Mass.) Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on April 28, 1942, daughter of Arthur and Emaline Lachapelle Morin, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Brothers worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams in her younger years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a communicant of St. John Bosco Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister and the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine coordinator. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and puzzles. Born on her mother's birthday, she also shares the same birthday with her most recent granddaughter.
She and her husband, David W. Brothers, were married on July 17, 1965, in the former St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Lori Shepard of Stamford and Melissa Clark of Dummerston; a son, Michael Brothers of Stamford; two sisters, Therese Grady of Bennington and Ann Thibert of North Adams; a brother, Wayne Morin of Rutland, 11 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Her siblings Rita Sojkowski, Arthur Morin and Edward Morin are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Brothers will be Friday, July 13, at 10:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. John Bosco Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in North Adams.
Calling hours will be Thursday, July 12, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Liver Foundation in care of the funeral home.
