Ruth O. Bernardo, 92
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Ruth Olive Bernardo, 92, of 45 Spring St. died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on March 9, 1920, a daughter of Earl Franklin Davis Sr. and Frances Olive Hall Davis, she attended schools in North Adams.
In her younger years, Mrs. Bernardo was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. and later worked as a private child care provider in the area.
She loved spending time with her family and was devoted mother and homemaker. She was a communicant of the former St. Francis Church.
Her husband, Frank Henry Bernardo, whom she married May 31, 1941, died Sept. 3, 1998.
She leaves a daughter, Frances Slick of North Adams; two sons, Gary Bernardo of Williamstown and Wayne Bernardo and his wife, Catherine, of Evergreen, Colo.; six grandchildren, Daniel Slick, David Slick, Lori Keating, Cheryl Slick, Nicholas Bernardo and Natalie Bernardo, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The last of her immediate family, she was predeceased her two sisters and five brothers: Gladys Dube, Violet Donnelly, Ralph Davis, Clyde Davis, Earl Davis Jr., William Davis and Gerald Davis.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Bernadino will take place Monday, Aug. 19, at 11 from St. Elizabeth's Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Aug. 18, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.
