Doris M. Cook, 94
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Doris M. Cook, 94, of 50 Ashland St. died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 14, 1918, a daughter of Clarence and Blanche Smith McElroy, she graduated from the former St. Joseph High School in North Adams.
Mrs. Cook was employed for many years as a matron at Williams College, retiring in 1980.
She was devoted mother and grandmother.
Her husband, Harold Cook, whom she married in 1937, died in 1987.
She leaves three daughters, Sandra Perry of Orleans, Joanne Jenks of Bedford, N.H., and Diane Tassone and her husband, Brian, of Feeding Hills; a son, Bruce Cook and his wife, Cheryl, of Bennington, Vt.; a son-in-law, Salvatore "Babe" Ferrara of North Adams; 14 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter Carolyn Ferrara; grandson Steven Ferrara; a sister, Mary Gebauer, and a brother, Gordon McElroy.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Cook will take place Thursday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams.
