NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — William LeRoy Pratt, 90, of 227 Franklin St. died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at North Adams Commons.
Born in North Adams on July 4, 1922, son of Guy and Edith Lamon Pratt, he attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1941.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe with the 28th Division of Patton's Third Army. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star among his decorations during the campaigns of Normandy and Northern France.
Mr. Pratt worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 37 years, until his retirement in 1984. He also enjoyed photography and worked as a wedding photographer for more than 20 years.
He attended St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. He was a member of VFW Post 996 and of DAV Chapter 15 in Pittsfield. He also enjoyed furniture refinishing.
He and his wife, the former Alma L. Moore, were married on Jan. 22, 1948.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Ronald Pratt and his wife, Mary Ann, of Adams; a daughter, Catherine Verrier and her husband, Lionel, of North Adams; four grandchildren, Rebekah Verrier-Pytko of Whately, Amy Lee Burton of Melbourne, Australia, and Jessica Cramer and William C. Pratt, both of North Adams; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Pytko, and his daughter-in-law, Martha Pratt of North Adams.
He was predeceased by his son William R. Pratt in 2010 and two brothers, Guy Pratt and Almon Pratt, who died in infancy.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Pratt will be Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9 to 11 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Parkinson Disease Association in care of the funeral home.
