Joseph E. Sebastino, 67

POWNAL, Vt. — Joseph Edward Sebastino, 67, of Puddingstone Road died Jan. 30, 2013, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with heart disease

Born in Williamstown, Mass., on March 19, 1945, son of Edith Bushee Sebastino, he was adopted by Anthony Sebastino in 1948.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.

A chef, Mr. Sebastino was food service director at Southern Vermont College in Bennington and lastly at Williamstown Elementary School. He was employed for many years at former Springs Restaurant, Williams Inn, Lenox House and the former Le Country Restaurant, and was chef and partner of the former River House.

He enjoyed his time at Lake St. Catherine in Vermont and spending time with his family and devoted dog Scruffy.

He leaves his wife and the love of his life, the former Carol Rivard, whom he married June 24, 1979; two loving sons, Craig Pedercini and his wife, Karen, of Williamstown, Mass., and Keith Pedercini and his wife, Jeanne, of Pownal; two loving daughters, Lisa Pedercini Wilcox and her husband, Robert, of Pownal and Debbie Pedercini Niles and her husband, Gary, of Shaftsbury; and three loving grandchildren, Jonathan Wilcox, Caleb Pedercini and Nicole Pedercini.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Sebastino will take place Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 11 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial with full military honors will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, Vt.

Calling hours will be Monday, Feb. 4, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Histiosytosis Association, 332 North Broadway, Pitman, NJ 08071 or through the funeral home.

When I told my son, Ben, of Mr. Joe's passing he said "He was the nicest man to me and he was a really good cook."
