NORTH ADAMS — A Berkshire County company is driving into the fast lane.
North Adams-based Raceway Media LLC has inked a deal with SCORE Motorsports to be the primary sponsor of its No. 02 NEXTEL Cup Series entry, which will be driven by Carl Long this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The company is using the race to promote its online classified division, www.racingjunk.com.
Ryan Maturski of Pownal, Vt., co-owner of Raceway Media, said the opportunity was too good to pass up.
"We had been following this story with Hermie Sadler and Carl Long since Rockingham, and I really wanted to get involved,†he said. “This is a great opportunity for us to help Hermie and Carl have a successful weekend, while creating awareness for www.racingjunk.com at the same time. We are proud to be on the car and look forward to a great race on Sunday."
RacingJunk.com is a free online classified service where racers, racing fans, and enthusiasts can find everything race-related, from racing parts and engines to complete racecars and anything in between. Approximately $80 million worth of products are currently posted on the site, with up to 600 new ads posted daily. Raceway is a division of Boxcar Media, owner of The Advocate and Family Beat newspapers and the iBerkshires.com Web site.
Driver Long has had some hard knocks in recent seasons, leading up to a horrific crash in February that left him without a car and without a sponsor. His luck changed, though, when he hooked up with fellow driver Hermie Sadler, co-owner of SCORE Motorsports with retired NBA star Bryant Stith. They scrambled to get Long qualified for the Vegas race, then capped the turnaround by partnering with new sponsor RacingJunk.com.
Sadler called it one of most amazing weeks of his racing career.
"I have never experienced this type of reaction to something I was involved in, and I am not even driving,†he said. “The way this deal has taken off this week is a great feeling. There are a lot of people out there that want to help the underdogs out, and it is fun. We will be representing a lot of people this weekend in addition to Raceway Media. We are proud to have them as a part of this effort this weekend," said the 1993 NASCAR Busch Series rookie of the year.

Dalton Day Returns This Saturday
By Sabrina DammsiBerkshires Staff
DALTON, Mass. — The town's popular Dalton Day festival is returning this weekend after a year's hiatus.
The event will kick off this Saturday at 11 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. in the field in front of the Senior Center.
The community celebration was established in 2023 by the Cultural Council in an effort to increase resident participation at town meetings while also showcasing the area's welcoming, diverse, artistic and sporty atmosphere. In 2024, the event brought together 300 residents.
"The primary mission of Dalton Day is to foster a strong sense of community, build civic pride, and bring residents together through a shared celebration of local culture, music, and food," said Jeannie Ingram, Select Board member and cultural council chair, and Lori Venezia, executive assistant to the town manager.
The event provides an accessible and free platform for "civic education, community bonding, and supporting local businesses, artisans, makers, and culture more broadly," they said.
The festival strengthens the fabric of the town both civically and economically by connecting grassroots organizations with residents, fostering a shared sense of belonging, and providing free, family-friendly entertainment.
It also serves as an opportunity for community members to meet with local officials and a couple of state officials. State Sen. Paul Mark and state Rep. Leigh Davis will be coming from Beacon Hill to speak at the event.
