(ARA) – Trucks are great for hauling big loads, with plenty of room in the bed for everything from furniture to lumber to tools. However, an open truck bed can leave your cargo susceptible to the elements as well as an invitation to thieves – and it can rob you of fuel efficiency as well.
“My brother and I once left our luggage in the back of our truck while we ducked into the mall for not more than 15 minutes, and when we came out, it was all gone,†says Tim Martin of Agri-Cover Inc., manufacturer of the Access Roll-up Tonneau Cover.
Often, people who utilize their trucks for work store their tools in the back of their vehicle. A tonneau cover keeps the contents of the truck bed safe from prying eyes as well as from rain and wind in the summer time and snow during winter. And while the Access Roll-Up Cover’s design allows the user immediate entry to their truck bed, its automatic locking system will keep your cargo safe.
In addition, recent studies have shown that the aerodynamic benefit of an Access cover can increase fuel efficiency by up to 10 percent. A 2004 article in Motor magazine reported that on an 8-foot box, the improvement in fuel economy with a full tonneau could be 1.35 miles per gallon, or a saving of 243 gallons over 100,000 miles of driving. With gasoline prices soaring, an Access Cover can actually pay for itself.
The real-life experiences of consumers who have purchased an Access tonneau cover bear out the study results. Says a customer in Ankeny, Iowa, “This product has improved my gas mileage, and made my bed into a gigantic lockable truck, while still being easily accessible. I will own an Access cover from here on.†Another customer reports, “I am amazed at the savings in gas mileage I’m getting with my cover, and the Access Roll-Up Cover is such an attractive addition to my truck. It really finishes the look I want.â€
Made from heavy-duty vinyl with a textured finish, and featuring slanted rails, the Access Cover is both functional and stylish. Installation is fast and easy with a unique clamp-on installation. And it is practical – the Access Cover rolls up with all components giving you full use of your pickup truck bed. The cover stores compactly behind the cab of your pickup with storage straps.
To close the cover, simply unbuckle the quick release straps and roll the cover towards the tailgate. Center the roll-up/tensioning bar into the strike and the auto-latch automatically secures the cover tightly in place. Then simply push the Slide-Locks located at each rear corner to lock; pull to unlock. When you add a tailgate lock, the cover and truck bed tailgate can be secured.
The tough tubular bows and cover of the Access tonneau have been tested and proven to last in all four seasons. The cover is also compatible with most bed accessories, such as bed rails, tie down hooks, cab spoilers, bed liners, bed caps and tailgate protectors.

Dalton Day Returns This Saturday
By Sabrina DammsiBerkshires Staff
DALTON, Mass. — The town's popular Dalton Day festival is returning this weekend after a year's hiatus.
The event will kick off this Saturday at 11 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. in the field in front of the Senior Center.
The community celebration was established in 2023 by the Cultural Council in an effort to increase resident participation at town meetings while also showcasing the area's welcoming, diverse, artistic and sporty atmosphere. In 2024, the event brought together 300 residents.
"The primary mission of Dalton Day is to foster a strong sense of community, build civic pride, and bring residents together through a shared celebration of local culture, music, and food," said Jeannie Ingram, Select Board member and cultural council chair, and Lori Venezia, executive assistant to the town manager.
The event provides an accessible and free platform for "civic education, community bonding, and supporting local businesses, artisans, makers, and culture more broadly," they said.
The festival strengthens the fabric of the town both civically and economically by connecting grassroots organizations with residents, fostering a shared sense of belonging, and providing free, family-friendly entertainment.
It also serves as an opportunity for community members to meet with local officials and a couple of state officials. State Sen. Paul Mark and state Rep. Leigh Davis will be coming from Beacon Hill to speak at the event.
