14th Annual Father & Daughter Dance Planned

North Adams – The 14th annual Father and Daughter Valentine Dance will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17,  at St. Anthony’s Parish Center on Marshall Street  from 6 to 9 p.m.

This semi-formal event is for fathers or father figures and daughters of all ages.

There will be dancing to a disc jockey and each girl or woman who enters the event will receive a flower. There will also be door prizes, raffles and various other prizes. A large selection of baked goods and beverages will be available. In addition, the hall will be decorated with hundreds of balloons. Proceeds will benefit the Children's Memorial.
 
Tickets are $10 per person in advance and $12 per person at the door. Tickets are available at Val's Variety on Columbia Street, Adams, Where’d You Get That!? on Spring Street, Williamstown, and Persnickety Toys on Eagle Street.

The dance committee is asking that each person bring a canned good or other nonperishable item to donate to the Northern Berkshire Community Action food pantry. For further information about the event, call Jay or Terri Cooper at 413-743-7532.

SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
