NORTH ADAMS, July 31, 2001. The Berkshire Council for Growth, the Human Resources Association of Berkshire County, and Boxcar Media, LLC are pleased to announce that BerkshireJobs.com, the online employment resource for Berkshire County, has been re-launched, offering enhanced functionality and new, user-friendly features.

These enhancements come as a result of the recent change in the site’s management. Originally launched in 1999, BerkshireJobs.com recently came under the management of Boxcar Media through an agreement with the Berkshire Council for Growth.

“We’re extremely pleased to join with Boxcar Media in the announcement of the re-launch of BerkshireJobs.com,” says Jeff Cook, Co-Chair of the Berkshire Council for Growth. “Boxcar Media’s innovative approach to new media, as well as its dedication to the growth of the Berkshire region, are the reasons the Executive Committee of the Berkshire Council for Growth and the Human Resources Association selected Boxcar Media to take over the operation of the site. The results are just what we expected: Boxcar Media has positioned the site as the most comprehensive, effective, and innovative employment resource in the area.”

Since its initial launch by the Berkshire Council for Growth, Berkshirejobs.com has connected Berkshire County’s most enterprising companies with talented, motivated job-seekers. The site features a searchable resume database, job postings in a variety of categories, relocation information, employment resources, and a tiered participation structure that meets the need of every budget.

Now under the management of Boxcar Media, the site is even more comprehensive and user-friendly. With more in-depth content, an increased focus on human resources, and an enhanced attention to marketing and promotion, Boxcar Media has improved the overall reach, participation, and effectiveness of BerkshireJobs.com.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of this exciting project,” remarks Ozzie Alvarez, Boxcar Media’s founder and CEO. “BerkshireJobs.com not only assists employers and job seekers with recruitment, hiring, and relocation, it also serves as a critical part of the viability and growth of the region as a whole.”

“Our management of this site follows Boxcar Media’s longstanding commitment to the Berkshire County community,” he adds.

Berkshirejobs.com lists opportunities in the area of hospitality, banking, insurance, health care, education, technology, manufacturing, law, human resources, engineering, marketing, sales, arts/entertainment, research, design, human services, clerical, and more. The site is free for job-seekers, and offers a tiered participation structure for employers. Employers who sign up with Berkshirejobs.com prior to September 1st will receive a 15% discount on their account. Current members who renew their contracts by the same date will receive a 30% discount.

In addition to Berkshirejobs.com, Boxcar Media also serves as the managing company to the iBerkshires.com network of community websites. Boxcar Media also develops individual web sites, multimedia presentations, and e-commerce solutions for area clients.

The Berkshire Council for Growth is an integrated task force of private and public interests chartered to actively promote all aspects of economic development in Berkshire County. The Council fosters economic development by coordinating private and public resources, serving as a centralized resource for economic development activities, developing a core regional identity, and assisting individuals and companies interested in establishing or enhancing their economic presence in Berkshire County.

Berkshire County Homes Celebrating Holiday Cheer

By Breanna SteeleiBerkshires Staff

There's holiday cheer throughout the Berkshires this winter.

Many homeowners are showing their holiday spirit by decorating their houses. We asked for submissions so those in the community can check out these fanciful lights and decor when they're out.

We asked the homeowners questions on their decorations and why they like to light up their houses.

In Great Barrington, Matt Pevzner has decorated his house with many lights and even has a Facebook page dedicated to making sure others can see the holiday joy.

Located at 93 Brush Hill Road, there's more than 61,000 lights strewn across the yard decorating trees and reindeer and even a polar bear.

The Pevzner family started decorating in September by testing their hundreds of boxes of lights. He builds all of his own decorations like the star 10-foot star that shines done from 80-feet up, 10 10-foot trees, nine 5-foot trees, and even the sleigh, and more that he also uses a lift to make sure are perfect each year.

"I always decorated but I went big during COVID. I felt that people needed something positive and to bring joy and happiness to everyone," he wrote. "I strive to bring as much joy and happiness as I can during the holidays. I love it when I get a message about how much people enjoy it. I've received cards thanking me how much they enjoyed it and made them smile. That means a lot."

Pevzner starts thinking about next year's display immediately after they take it down after New Year's. He gets his ideas by asking on his Facebook page for people's favorite decorations. The Pevzner family encourages you to take a drive and see their decorations, which are lighted every night from 5 to 10.

In North Adams, the Wilson family decorates their house with fun inflatables and even a big Santa waving to those who pass by.

The Wilsons start decorating before Thanksgiving and started decorating once their daughter was born and have grown their decorations each year as she has grown. They love to decorate as they used to drive around to look at decorations when they were younger and hope to spread the same joy.

"I have always loved driving around looking at Christmas lights and decorations. It's incredible what people can achieve these days with their displays," they wrote.

They are hoping their display carries on the tradition of the Arnold Family Christmas Lights Display that retired in 2022.

The Wilsons' invite you to come and look at their display at 432 Church St. that's lit from 4:30 to 10:30 every night, though if it's really windy, the inflatables might not be up as the weather will be too harsh.

In Pittsfield, Travis and Shannon Dozier decorated their house for the first time this Christmas as they recently purchased their home on Faucett Lane. The two started decorating in November, and hope to bring joy to the community.

"If we put a smile on one child's face driving by, then our mission was accomplished," they said.
