Annual Fall Foliage Festival Parade Seeks Float-Builders - August 13, 2007
The Fall Foliage Festival Parade will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2007. Recognizing the role of transportation in the county, the Parade theme selection of “Transportation - Then and Now” serves to inspiration a host of ideas for float builders. Cars, trains, airplanes, bicycles and more! To add your entry today, visit www.fallfoliageparade.com for a float form or call (413) 499-4000.
“This is a perfect opportunity for our local organizations to showcase their float-building talents. We’re looking forward to seeing some exciting floats based on the transportation theme for both the Fall Foliage Parade as well as the Children’s Parade,” said Rod Bunt, Fall Foliage Parade Committee Director. Assistance and advice will be provided for groups that are new to this endeavor. It takes time, skill imagination to build a winning float, along with the enthusiasm of dedicated people. The following awards will be given: Director’s Award at $200, Grand Marshall Award at $250, Mayor’s Award at $350, Hayden Award at $350 and the Harry S. Orr Award at $400.
The Fall Foliage Festival Parade Committee is still looking for donations to help them reach their goal of $50,000. To support this year’s parade, please send donations to the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, 6 West Main Street, North Adams, MA 01247. Checks should be made payable to “Berkshire Chamber of Commerce.”
Over the next month, parade committee members will coordinate marching bands, floats, banners and other marching units in preparation for the big event. The parade committee is still seeking volunteers to help with the parade. For more information, or to volunteer, please call Rod Bunt at (413) 664-6180. |
