CANTON, N.Y. – Out of nine teams, the Williams College women’s golf team finished third place with a combined score of 689 for both days of the two-day tournament at St. Lawrence University.
Finishing two strokes out of second place, Coach Kris Herman noted, “Our ultimate goal was to finish second and that would’ve been great but we had a much better day and it was a great team effort – we played much better golf”.
With a total team score of 334 for the Ephs, sophomore Mary Gelber carded the lowest score of the second day with a 79, finishing 15th place overall. Sophomore Kait O’Brien shot an 83 and placed highest for the Ephs with 10th overall. Junior Laura Koplik fired an 84 in her second day and tied for 17th place.
Freshman Lauren Antsey shot an 88 and tied for 28th place in her first college tournament and sophomore Kristin Nottebohm placed 26th while firing a 92 in her second day.
“Four of our five golfers improved, which was our goal, and it enabled us to climb back; which was great to see,” Herman stated.
Humber College won the two-day tournament with a combined score of 651, firing 322 in their second day. St. Lawrence finished second with their team shooting 339 in their second day and a combined score of 685 in the two-day tournament.
